RFID for asset tracking: when tags beat barcodes

Knowing what you have and where it is sounds simple — until you're managing thousands of items across multiple sites. That's where RFID earns its place.

How RFID differs from barcodes

A barcode needs line of sight and a manual scan, one item at a time. RFID tags are read by radio — no line of sight, and many at once. Move a reader past a shelf or through a doorway and every tag answers in an instant.

Passive vs active tags

Passive tags are inexpensive and battery-free, read at short range — ideal for stock, tools, documents and access cards. Active tags carry a small battery for long range and real-time location of high-value or moving assets.

When RFID is the right call

Reach for RFID when you need fast bulk reads, hands-free check-in/out, or to cut hours of manual counting and human error. We supply RFID hardware and help design the right tag, reader and antenna setup for your environment.
